Manchester Unity of Oddfellows Badge

1 Nov

This is an original Manchester Unity of Oddfellows badge made by Yorkshiremen, George Tutill who from his silk banner making factory at 83 City Road, London popularized the standardised design of marching banners and by the latter half of the 19th century was approximately making three quarters of all trade union banners in the United Kingdom.

The Manchester Unity of Oddfellows was formed in 1810, having originally been founded in London in the 17th century and is still very much in existence today in Manchester, with their city headquarters on Booth Street.
